Pinot Noir
Rich and unrestrained, our Red Rock Winery Pinot Noir offers layers of raspberry jam and plum supported by hints of vanilla, caramel and oak. A touch of Zinfandel helps to create a rich palate and silky mouthfeel, leading the way to a lingering, fruit forward finish. It’s a versatile match for a wide range of foods, offering a delicious counterpart to roasted poultry, pork and beyond.
Viticulture Notes
The 2013 vintage started early in California, where a long, moderate growing season created ideal conditions for ripeness and flavor development in Pinot Noir. As the season developed, desirable dry conditions and balanced weather allowed for outstanding maturation and flavor development in grapes. Following a mild harvest, our wines have shown impressive depth and balance with concentrated ripe fruit flavors.
Winemaker Notes
At the winery, the grapes for our 2013 Pinot Noir were destemmed and then fermented in a combination of upright, rotary and conesweep tanks for up to six days at a maximum temperature of 82°F to retain more delicate aromatics. Following primary fermentation, this Pinot Noir underwent malolactic fermentation to create a creamy mouthfeel with lots of texture. We added a touch of Zinfandel to enhance color and aromatics.
